The primary purpose of the H+ technology is to drive improvements in patients’ management of hypertension. But it can also drive improvements with medicine management, drive improvements in wider health determinants, support the patient with self-care where available and reduce pressure and improve support functions for GP practice staff.

Viso supports hypertensive patients with their remote blood pressure monitoring, titration and in-app health advice and is available in parts of North West London, Cornwall and Dorset.

The early results demonstrate a 5 mmHg reduction in systolic blood pressure which correlated to a reduction of 0.5 GP appointments per patient per year. This equates to ‘saving’ of £15 (at a cost of £30 per appt)

We know that greater health activation and improved mental health correlates to better physical health and lower primary and secondary care demand.  48% of patients with access to H+ saw a rise in their activation and 31% saw an improvement in their mental wellbeing.

If we assume an app cost of £5 per patient the Return on Investment in primary care ‘savings’ alone could be 3 (£15/£5 = 3) and that’s before counting demand reduction in year 2 in secondary care and across other providers, which also does not account for the value of better health and wellbeing to the patient.
