NAPC welcomes the GP contract announcing an extra £889m a year into General Practice and the reduction of bureaucracy that will help GPs to commit to greater continuity of care, supporting the health and wellbeing of patients. This will, however, not happen overnight and it will be sometime before patients begin to see greater continuity of GP and the reimagining of the ‘family doctor’ within the practice. We have long been proponents of integrated neighbourhood working and this uplift will free up practices to use the additional funding to the benefit of their local population. It is pleasing to see the move towards digital booking of appointments as the NHS moves into line with what people have come to expect from a modern society, whilst ensuring that those who cannot access this route are still able to get access
