Dr. Alka has dedicated her career to providing exceptional care in NHS Primary Care, with a special interest in Community Women’s Health. Since July 2024, she has been working in a sessional role with Herts Urgent Care (HUC) Out-of-Hours Services, primarily at the Lister Hospital Base in Stevenage. Her commitment to continuous professional development ensures she stays at the forefront of General Practice, particularly in her area of passion—Community Women’s Health.

Alka’s role at HUC Out-of-Hours allows her to support urgent patient needs while maintaining her broader professional development. She actively engages in learning opportunities and stays updated on best practices in General Practice. Her dedication to women’s health has driven her to explore innovative ways to support patients in the community, ensuring that primary care services remain responsive and patient-centred.

Being a part of the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC) has provided Alka with a strong sense of community and purpose. She finds the energy and collaborative spirit within NAPC incredibly rewarding, reinforcing her passion and commitment to NHS Primary Care. The organisation’s foundational principles align with her vision of delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
International Recognition and Representation
In February 2025, Alka had the prestigious opportunity to attend the Centenary College Foundation Day of her alma mater, Patna Medical College & Hospital (formerly Prince-of-Wales Medical School) in India. The celebrations were attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the President of India. Alka was invited to present a talk on NHS Primary Care, sharing insights about the UK’s healthcare system with an audience of global alumni. Her presentation was well received, reinforcing the impact and significance of the NHS model on an international stage. Representing NHS Primary Care at such a high-profile event was a moment of immense pride for Alka, as she honoured both her homeland, the UK, and her roots in India.
