Jenny Bowen
Legacy Nurse
Sea Mills Surgery, North Bristol
The Journey
As Lead Practice Nurse at Sea Mills Surgery in North Bristol for three years, Jenny supports 9,000 patients. Having worked in Primary Care for 10 years as well as working in Oncology and Palliative Care, she’s dedicated to empowering patients and optimising healthcare through personalised support and streamlined services.
“I enjoy the challenge of managing chronic illness and streamlining care to reduce multiple appointments; and above all, making every patient contact count.”
Jenny joined the CARE programme in 2021 to develop her skills as both a leader and role model. She met several nurses from the South West on the programme. This in turn helped her to develop practice strategies, and also enabled her to reflect on her leadership style.
The CARE programme enabled Jenny to build new connections and networks, boosting her confidence and resilience. It empowered her to share ideas, try new strategies, and realise the impact of teamwork in overcoming challenges in Primary Care.
“As nurses we are all experiencing the same challenges and if we work together, we can influence change”
