The Challenge
On commencing a new role in a large geographical area, covering a coastal and rural landscape, comprising of 22,500 population.
Liz realised that patients were not always accessing good timely cancer care and public were unaware of what support was available to them within their community.
Liz led a project team who were recognised for the ‘Great Idea’ award at the Innovation of the Cancer Experience of Care.
The Innovation
As a result, Liz has focused on developing robust networks across the population.
She has instigated regular awareness sessions within the local communities and multidisciplinary team utilising community centres and the local care home community with a particular focus on raising awareness around early diagnosis and screening.
The Impact
- Patient: Increased awareness of available cancer support and early diagnosis and screening
- Practitioner: Raised her profile across her networks to support the role which she is in
